What makes this guide different is Diners themselves have contributed to the content, so that the opinions expressed are credible. The editorial team have also visited every restaurant to assess it anonymously. General descriptions of the restaurants are added to a ratings score for ambience, food, service and wine list to give you a detailed, useful impression of the restaurant.
The editor, Jean-Pierre Rossouw, has been a restaurant reviewer for The Mail & Guardian as well as Food and Wine Editor for Conde Nast House and Garden. This guide is published in association with The Portfolio Collection, for over twenty years the leading guide to quality accommodation in South Africa.

We want to know what you think. This guide is based on the views of restaurant patrons themselves, not on critics’ opinions. After the scored ratings, each restaurant is briefly described to include the observations of people who have visited in their private capacity. The opinions of these restaurant goers appear “in quotations”.

In addition to getting the views of diners, the editorial team has visited all of the restaurants, anonymously, to supplement the information. All meals were fully paid for by the editorial team.
